What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the website remember information about your visit, such as your preferences. Modern websites also use similar browser mechanisms such as local storage; this policy covers both.

1. Essential cookies

The CourseAgent marketing website does not require you to sign in, so it does not set authentication, session or CSRF cookies of its own. Our hosting provider (Netlify) and Google Analytics may set the small number of cookies described in the sections below.

2. Functional cookies and local storage

We use a small amount of browser local storage to remember your preferences between visits. These items are stored on your device only and are not sent to our servers.

3. Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the CourseAgent website so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets the cookies below and uses a cross-domain linker so that visits which continue into the CourseAgent Platform at app.courseagent.ai are counted as the same session.

Google Analytics data is aggregated and used for statistical reporting. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not run advertising cookies on this website.

Impact of disabling cookies

If you clear the local storage items above, your cookie consent choice and theme preference will be forgotten and you will be asked again on your next visit. Blocking Google Analytics has no effect on your ability to use the website.

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. We currently do not respond to DNT signals, but you can use the cookie management options above to control tracking.

7. Cookie consent

When you first visit CourseAgent you will see a cookie consent banner at the bottom of the screen. You can choose to accept all cookies or essential cookies only. Your preference is stored in the cookie_consent local storage entry and respected for future visits. You can change your choice at any time by clearing that entry in your browser.

8. CourseAgent Platform

This policy covers the marketing website at courseagent.ai only. The CourseAgent Platform at app.courseagent.ai is a separate product with its own Cookie Policy, which is available to signed-in users inside the Platform. In summary, the Platform does not use Google Analytics or advertising cookies and relies almost entirely on browser local storage for sign-in and user preferences.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated version and date. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
